How often should I perform water filtration system maintenance?

Most whole-house water filtration and water softener systems should have a professional maintenance check once a year. The most common reason is normal wear on filters or media and shifts in water quality that can foul valves or clog prefilters.

Our team services many city and well systems across the Roanoke Valley, so we set maintenance around actual water conditions, and we also offer free water testing to dial in the right schedule.

Watch for these signs you may need service sooner:

  • Noticeable drop in water pressure
  • New odors or tastes in tap water
  • Orange or brown staining returning
  • Softener using salt faster than normal or not drawing brine
  • System alarms, error codes, or leaks

If you’re unsure, schedule an annual check and follow your filter manufacturer’s change directions.
