How often should electrical panels be inspected for safety?

Electrical panels should be safety-inspected at least once a year. Age, heat, and vibration can loosen connections and create hotspots that raise fire risk, which a thermal test and visual check can catch early. Most panels that get yearly care only need tightening or small repairs; upgrade is considered when overheating, corrosion, or capacity issues show up. Our licensed electricians perform these checks throughout the Roanoke–Salem area. Diamond Club members receive an annual electrical inspection as part of routine maintenance.

Schedule sooner if you notice any of these:

  • Breakers tripping repeatedly or won’t reset
  • Warm or buzzing panel cover
  • Burning odor or scorch marks near the panel
  • Recent remodels or added loads like an EV charger or generator

If the panel feels hot or smells burnt, keep clear and call a licensed electrician immediately.
